Marie Michalski, 94 of Ord passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father John Kakkuzhiyil officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery with luncheon to follow at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Ord. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the Ord Memorial Chapel from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ord Senior Center. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Marie was born September 15, 1922, in Valley County, Nebraska to Emil and Anna (Hulinsky) Ruzicka. Marie attended rural schools in Garfield County, Nebraska.

Marie was married to Stanley Michalski on May 1, 1939, in Burwell, Nebraska. The couple farmed near Loup City and later near Ashton. In 1950, they returned to the home farm at Elyria. Marie worked hard on the farm as a farm wife. They moved to Ord in 1974. Marie had worked at Ord High School for seven years as the school lunch manager.

Marie had been a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church; Altar Society; and Marie helped start the Ord Senior Center, where she served as President.

Marie loved to dance and listen to music, especially Czech music. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and walking. Marie also enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Michalski and his wife, Olga of Burwell, Terrence Michalski of Gibbon; a daughter, Virginia Hulinsky and her husband, Ray of LaMars, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Frye and her husband, Bob of Ord.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; a son, Dwaine Michalski and his wife, Evelyn; and two granddaughters, Carrie and Kathy Hulinski; two brothers, Bill and Robert Ruzicka; two sisters, Blanche Oliva and Irma Kruml; and a daughter-in-law, Emily Michalski.
