Muriel A. Tolfa, 91, of North Loup passed away on Friday, July 07, 2017, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Muriel Alice was born April 20, 1926, at North Loup, Nebraska to Lloyd O. and Clara Maude (Severance) Van Horn. She was raised in North Loup where she received her education and graduated from North Loup High School and attended the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Muriel worked in Grand Island where she met Walter Tolfa. The couple was married on June 6, 1944, in Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved to Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and raised their three boys. After retirement they returned to North Loup in 1976.
She enjoyed her pet dog.
Survivors include three sons, Walter L. Tolfa of Butler, PA; Mark D. Tolfa of Kansas City, MO; and Michael A. Tolfa of North Loup, NE ; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Merna Babcock of Missouri; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leland Van Horn of Iowa and Carroll and Terry Van Horn of West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; three brothers, Lyle, Harold and Merlyn Van Horn; and a sister, Ruby Meyer.
