Leonard J. Sedlacek, 89, of Ord passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Heartland Assembly of God Church. Pastor Tom Burkholder will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery. Military
Honors will be presented by the Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be on Tuesday prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Flag Pole Fund. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Leonard John was born March 10, 1928, on the family farm south of Ord, Nebraska to John and Katherine (Pesek) Sedlacek. He was raised on the family farm and attended Brace Country School.
Leonard worked at the grain elevator in Ord before enlisting in the United States Army in January of 1951. He served in Korea as a mechanic until October of 1952. Leonard returned to Ord where he resided and
farmed his entire life on the family farm south of Ord. He was married to Vickie (Cummings) Thomsen and helped her raise her three children.
Leonard enjoyed going to farm auctions, breaking horses and riding Harley Motorcycles. He enjoyed being with people and helping in anyway.
Survivors include three children; Mike Sedlacek of Texas, Laura Pihl of New Hampshire and Chris Thomsen of Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Donna Sedlacek of Grand Island; a sister, Wilma Maresh of Ord; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
