Mildred H. Kolar, 89, of Grand Island formerly of Ord passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Scott Hausrath will officiate. Burial will be in the Czech National Cemetery west of Ord. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the service time. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire Department or the Czech National Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Helen was born September 14, 1928, in Valley County, Nebraska to Otto and Helen (Mach) Bruha. She was raised on the family farm eleven miles west of Ord and received her education at District #29 Country School.
On April 15, 1947, Mildred was united in marriage to William Kolar at Ord, Nebraska. They farmed and resided in Valley County until 1961, when they moved into Ord. Mildred worked for the Ord Public Schools
as a cook for 24 years. William passed away in January of 1996. Mildred continued to make her home in Ord and moved to Grandview in 2007, then to Grand Island in 2016.
Mildred enjoyed sewing, making quilts and crafts; and listening to Polka music.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Thomas Hayes of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Donna Kolar of Chapman; two grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3
great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Laddie E. and Darlene Bruha of Ord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a grandson, Tim Kolar; an infant brother, Stanley Bruha; a brother, Edward O. Bruha; and a sister, Wilma Hruby.
