Frank Joseph “Bud” Bratka, 92, of Burwell, Nebraska died October 4, 2017 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord,
Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor
Glenda Pearson will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5 –
7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested
to Bethany Lutheran Church.
Bud was born January 30, 1925 at
Sargent, Nebraska to James and Josie (Eret) Bratka.
Bud graduated from Burwell High School
in 1942. On December 20, 1944 he entered the United States Army and
was honorably discharged on May 5, 1946.
Bud married Lois Zlomke on October 10,
1948 in Taylor, Nebraska and they lived east of Burwell where they
farmed and ranched.
Bud and Lois moved into Burwell in
2010. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Burwell
Legion Post 298; where, he was the commander for three years and on
the Color Guard for several years. He was also the District 20
school board member for 22 years, serving as president.
Bud is survived by two children, Connie
Benjamin of Lincoln, Nebraska and Lex and Patti Bratka of Burwell,
Nebraska. A son-in-law, Tim Meagher of Ft. Worth, Texas. Four
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Gloria Beach
of Hildreth, Nebraska.
Bud was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, Lois, a son, Steve Bratka, a sister and
brother-in-law, Betty and Vern Clabaugh and two brothers-in-law’s,
Everett Rahmann and Gusty Beach.
