Laurel J. Wolf, 87, of North Loup passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Valley County Health System in Ord.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Reverend Murry Johnston will officiate. Graveside Burial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Laurel Jean was born August 17, 1930, at North Loup, Nebraska to Cecil and Elsie (Smith) VanHoosen. She spent her childhood in the North Loup area where she received her early education at various country schools. Laurel graduated from Ord High School in 1947, and received her teaching certificate. She taught at District #70 for a year.
In 1948, Laurel was united in marriage to Herbert Linke. To this union four children were born. In 1952, the family moved to Grand Island. While in Grand Island they raised their family. Laurel also taught at
1R country school and waitressed at Dreisbach’s and the Liederkranz.
Herbert passed away in 1976, and Laurel married Elwood Andersen in 1984. They lived in Marquette and moved to North Loup in 1990. Laurel owned and operated the North Loup Café from 1990-93. In 1997, Woody passed away.
Laurel married Leo Wolf in 1999, he passed away in 2001, and Laurel continued living in North Loup until her passing.
She was a member of Business Professional Women, American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Harmony Club and Always Busy Extension Club. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and going to the horse races and casinos.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Linke of North Loup; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diana Linke of North Loup, Kathryn and Tom Kennedy of Divide, Colorado and Kristine and Jerry Marshall of North Loup; four step children and spouses, Mickie Andersen and Pat Andersen both of Lincoln, Steve and Jenny Wolf of Ord and Jeff and Cindy Wolf of Kearney; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, David and Betty VanHoosen and Marnell VanHoosen all of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Herbert, Elwood and Leo; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth VanHoosen and Dean and Janice VanHoosen; and a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Bill Palser.
