Betty was born to Harley and Maudie
(Sherman) Nixon on August 10, 1924 in Burwell, Nebraska. She married
Freeman Rowse of Burwell on May 11, 1940. To this union three sons
and a daughter were born. Freeman and Betty lived on the Rowse
homestead place for all of their married life.
After Freeman invented the hydraulic
dump rake and the business started to grow Betty would go with
Freeman delivering equipment all over the mid states from North
Dakota to Texas. They enjoyed this time spent together.
Betty accepted the Lord as her personal
Savior in 1946 and became active as a Sunday School teacher, camp
worker and Bible School teacher at Cedar Creek Bible Church. Their
home was open for Bible Studies and meals were served to many passing
through. Betty was famous for her baking pies and homemade donuts
and cinnamon rolls. The workers in the office can testify to the
yummy stuff coming from “Grandma’s” house. Easter,
Thanksgiving and Christmas was time for all the family to come to
Grandma’s house for dinner and a great time together, even at 93
years old, the family came for meals.
Betty was a charter member of the
Homemakers Club that started on May 1, 1946.
Betty leaves behind her two sons, Dan and Ruth Rowse of Ord, Nebraska and Terry and Marty Rowse of Burwell, Nebraska and a daughter Linda Worden of Burwell, Nebraska and a
daughter-in-law, Virginia Rowse of Burwell, Nebraska. Fourteen
grandchildren, Jerry and Tammy Rowse, Darry Rowse, Penny and Randy
