Lloyd Griffith, 98, of Ord passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018, at
the Ord Memorial Chapel. Reverend Stefanie Hayes will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be
presented by Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. In lieu
of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ord Township Library or the
Ord Flag Pole Fund. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd was born in Omaha, NE Sept. 23, 1919, to Leslie and Marie (Peterson)Griffith. He attended school at Benson. After graduation, Lloyd moved to Los Angeles, CA and worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA from 1938 to 1944. He was a line foreman helping construct P-38 Fighters during World War II. On Sept. 27, 1941, he married Zola Stara in Yuma, AZ. Zola also worked at Lockheed.


Lloyd enlisted in the Army in 1944, and had the rank of Master Sergeant. He
served in Germany from 1944 to 1947. When discharged from the Army he
went back to Lockheed, but declined a transfer to Tennessee. The
couple moved to Ord to farm on her parent’s farm five miles north
of Ord near Elyria. After farming for 20 years he moved into town and
drove truck for Roman’s Motor Freight for several years. He worked
for Quiz Graphic Arts (The Ord Quiz) and was the bindery foreman
until he retired. After retirement he worked part-time for Kittle
Plumbing.


Lloyd always had a love for aviation and got his private pilots license in
the early 1950s and purchased a Cessna 140 airplane. He spent most of
his free time flying and giving rides. He always enjoyed reading and
having coffee with friends.


Lloyd was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Ord Methodist Church, Ord
Elks Lodge, was on the Ord Township Library Board and was Justice of
the Peace for Ord Township for many years.


Left to cherish his memory include a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and
Bonnie Griffith of Ord; grandchildren, Debra and Bob McDonald of
Rockville and Brian and Lacy Griffith of Ord; great-grandchildren,
Paige Schaaf and husband, Nick, Maddie Griffith and Carter Griffith
and great-great-grandchildren, Noah Schaaf and Ryleigh Schaaf, all of
Ord.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Zola, his parents, Leslie and
Marie Griffith and a brother, Harry Lee Griffith.
