Janice M. Davis, 74, of Scotia passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at her home in Scotia.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. Pastor Scott Hausrath will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Seventh Day Baptist Church Camp Riverview or the Scotia Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Janice May was born August 21, 1943, at North Loup, Nebraska to Jim and Marguerite (Babcock) Scott. She was raised in rural Valley County where she received her education at District #24 Fussyville School and graduated from North Loup-Scotia High School in 1961.

Following high school Janice attended Grand Island School of Beauty. On May 13, 1962, she was united in marriage to Arden Davis at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup, Nebraska. The couple lived in Tacoma, Washington for over a year while Arden served in the military.

In 1963, they returned to North Loup where they made their home and raised their four children. Janice worked at the Jack & Jill Grocery Store, North Loup Valley Bank and was a hairdresser. In 1990, the couple moved to Scotia. Janice was a teller at State Bank of Scotia until her health caused her to retire in 1998.

Janice was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church and volunteer cook at Camp Riverview during the summer. Arden and Janice enjoyed traveling to the Colorado Mountains to visit their family. Janice was fond of humming birds which she enjoyed watching and collecting. She enjoyed watching the sunsets and the birds and squirrels feeding in their yard.

While growing up on the farm Janice “Tuff” loved her horse, “Chub” and as a teen, she was crowned Popcorn Days Queen, an honor she later shared with both of her daughters.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arden of Scotia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jonna and Jeff Sich of Ord and Sandee and Jason Wentz of Nathrop, Colorado; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Karl and Rhonda Davis and Doug Davis all of Sargent, nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Karen Sharp of Broken Bow.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Aubrey and Ella Davis; four great-grandchildren, Sailor, Wesley, Stella and May Eickmeier; and two brothers-in-law, Curt Davis and Jim Sharp.
