Wilma Maresh, 87, of Ord passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at her home in Ord with her family at her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Most Rev Joseph G. Hanefeldt, Most Rev. William J. Dendinger, Reverends Mark Maresh, John Kakkuzhiyil, Michael Wetovick, Donald Buhrman and Priests of the Grand Island Diocese will officiate assisted by Deacons Randy Lewandowski, Bill Buchta and John Willmes. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or Mass Offerings. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Wilma was born August 19, 1930, in rural Ord, Nebraska to John and Katherine (Mika) Sedlacek. She received her education at Ord Grade School and Brace Country School District #17; and graduated from Ord High School in 1948.
On November 8, 1948, Wilma was united in marriage to Eldon J. Maresh at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. To this union three daughters and four sons were born.
The couple made their home on the family farm southwest of Ord. Eldon passed away in 1987, and Wilma continued to live on the farm until November of 1993, when she moved into Ord.
Wilma was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She belonged to the ZCBJ Lodge #14 in Ord for over 75 years and was a founding member of Memory Stitchers.
Wilma was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, quilting, embroidering and making many quilts that she shared with her grandchildren and family. She will be remembered by her delicious Kolaches and Rollicky she made for her grandchildren and gatherings. She also canned, and gardened and enjoyed her flowers, especially the red roses.
Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Maresh of Aurora, Colorado, Judy Svatora of Lincoln and Karen and Gary O’Neill of Grand Island; three sons and two
daughters-in-law, Gary and Lisa Maresh of Central City, Galen and Lee Ann Maresh of York and Father Mark Maresh of Grand Island; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Bobby Loges, Nathan,
Amy and Andrew Svatora, Justin, Allison and Alex Maresh, Amanda and Trevor Carruth, Matthew and Sydney Maresh, and Emily, Travis, Mollie and Abby Maresh; four great-grandchildren, Duncan, Jesse and Hudson Loges and Taylor Adams; and one brother, George Sedlacek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon; an infant son, Duane; and a brother, Leonard Sedlacek.
