Duane C. Lane, 81, of Ord formerly of Arkansas passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.

Duaneā€™s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Reverend Stefanie Hayes will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by Ord VFW Post #7029 and American Legion Post #38. Memorials are suggested to the Family. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Duane Charles was born February 25, 1936, at Ord, Nebraska to Charles E. and Lydia L. (Zabloudil) Lane. He was raised in Valley County where he received his education.

Duane served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957.

Duane made his home in North Loup working as a contractor until 1973. He moved to Orleans, Nebraska and was a Dairy Farmer in partnership with Leonard Jacobs until 1980, when he moved to Norton, Kansas.

On March 22, 1980, Duane was united in marriage to Amanda Robinson. While living in Norton Duane worked as a Custodian at the Norton High School until he retired in 1996.

In 2000, Duane and Amanda moved to Arkansas. In 2017, Duane returned to Ord where he made his home at Valley View Senior Village and Grandview Assisted Living Center.

Duane enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda R. Lane of Memphis, TN; two sons, Steve Lane and David Lane both of Lincoln; three daughters, Cindy (Tim) Lanik of Hemingford, Susan (Monty) Fread of Kearney, and Mary (Doug) Tucker of Afton, IA; a step-son, Fain (Sandra) Dalton of Memphis, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Jody Lane of Ord; a niece, Lisa Woitalewicz; three nephews, Ken Woitalewicz and Tad and Brant Lane; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carole Woitalewicz; a grandson, Alex Fread; and two step-sons, Steve and Charles Dalton.
