Rene was born July 23, 1932 in Valley County Nebraska. He attended country schools and
graduated from Ord High School in 1950. He married Angeline Maciejewski on June 11, 1955 in Loup City Nebraska. They made their home in and around the Elyria area and farmed, ranched, and raised
eight children. Rene was a member of the St. Mary’s Parish in Elyria and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ord.

Rene farmed in Valley County for a timespan covering seven decades. He was proud that his farm remained in the Dubas family for over 100 years, recognized with the AkSarBen Pioneer Award.

Rene enjoyed playing cards, gardening, boating at Sherman and the Calamus, canoeing the North Loup River, collecting coins, Sunday drives, and building lovely pieces in his wood shop. His children and grandchildren have many wooden treasures with which to remember his handiwork.

Rene lived at home until 2015 when he was stricken with Guillen-Barre’ Syndrome. He spent time in
physical rehabilitation in Lincoln, Hastings and Ord and was able to live for several years with some assistance at Grandview in Ord. He grudgingly accepted not being independent, yet he came to love the
nurses, therapists, staff and residents at Grandview, Valley View, and Valley County Healthcare System.

Though he outlived plenty, he is survived by many: seven children; Tim Dubas of Lincoln, Paul Dubas
of Hastings, Bob and Cathy Dubas of Hastings, Jean Dubas of Lincoln, John and Pam Dubas of Omaha, Mary and Randy Schnase of Kearney and Marty and Jennifer Dubas of Omaha; a son-in-law, Lex Jeffres of Burwell his brother, Harry and Betty Dubas of Ord; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Bev Dubas of Elyria.

He was predeceased by his bride of 57 years Angie; a daughter, Deb Jeffres; his sister Irene Beran, three
brothers, Ralph, Fred and Edmund; his parents Steve and Rose (Sobon) Dubas.
