Marvin D. Gydesen, 86, of Ord passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Reverend Stefanie Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will
be on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marvin Dale was born January 31, 1932, on the family north of Scotia, Nebraska to Elmer and Helen (Bennett) Gydesen. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school and graduated from Scotia High School in 1949.
On August 22, 1953, Marvin was united in marriage to Arliss Watson at Ericson, Nebraska. To his union three children were born, Randy, Cindy and Vicky. Marvin farmed his entire life. In 1997, Marvin and
Arliss moved into Ord.
Marvin was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, and restoring tractors.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Arliss of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sharon Gydesen of Ord; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mike Svoboda of Montana and Vicky and Joe
Partridge of Ord; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma and Ray Dee of Grand Island and Ruby and Hank Kasson of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
