Goldie M. Paider, 95, of Arcadia passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Mrs. Paider’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. Reverend Dr. Jeff D. Hale will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of church. Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia United Methodist Church or the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Department. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Goldie May was born July 27, 1922, on the family farm in Valley County, near Arcadia, Nebraska to Samuel and Julia (Hughes) Holmes. She attended District #27 country school and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1939.
In the fall of 1939, Goldie began teaching in a rural school near North Loup and then at Hardscrabble School. On September 6, 1941, Goldie was united in marriage to Edward Paider at Ord, Nebraska.
Goldie and Ed made their home on the Lewin farm near Arcadia from 1941-1968. Goldie was a farm wife and taught in rural schools near Comstock and the Pleasant Valley Community. In 1968, they moved to Ord where Goldie worked as the Kitchen Supervisor at the Valley County Hospital for 20 years.
Mr. Paider passed away on June 19, 1990. Goldie retired from the hospital and continued to work at Jack & Jill until she returned to Arcadia in November of 1990. She made her home in Arcadia until moving to Rose Lane in May of 2017.
Goldie attended the Arcadia United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekahs. She enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening and will be remember by her homemade pies, rolls and breads.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Mary Anne Paider of Arcadia; four grandchildren, Philip Paider, Derek Paider and his wife, Sara, Chris Paider and Nicole Paider and her husband, Mike Redmond; and seven great-grandchildren; Elisa, Alex, Harrison, Leyton, Avery and Briggs Paider and Chase Redmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; three brothers, Allen, Frank and Walter Holmes and four sisters, Rena Dobson, Julia Woody, Charlotte Jensen and Pauline Ferris.
