Erma May Lee, 95 of Burwell, Nebraska died June 16, 2018 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell,
Nebraska. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell. Pastor
Jon Franson will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 -7
p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested
to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Friends of the Library.
Erma was born February 19, 1923 in
Grand Island, Nebraska to Howard and Wilhelmena (Kosack) Stites. She
grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School
in 1941. She worked at Kaufmanns Department Store in Grand Island
while in high school and after she graduated, where she did the store
Erma met Dewey Lee at a dance in Grand
Island at Glovers. They were married on October 19, 1947 in Grand
Island. They ranched north of Burwell where; she enjoyed the cattle
and going to bull sales with Dewey. Two sons, Howard and Edward were
born to this union. After they retired they moved into Burwell.
She was a member of St. John’s
Lutheran Church and the Willing Helpers Club. In later years she
collected dolls and did adult coloring. She was a great cook and
Erma is survived by two sons, Howard
Lee and Ed and Joye Lee all of Burwell, Nebraska. Four
grandchildren, Valerie and Josh Leising of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Ted
Lee of Burwell, Nebraska, Catherine Lee and fiancée Travis O’Neel
of Ord, Nebraska and Samuel Lee of Burwell, Nebraska and four
great-grandchildren, Alaina, Adam, Avalee, Annistyn Leising of
Erma was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, and two brothers, Dale Stites and Milo Stites.
