Amelia Bruha 83 of Scotia passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Doug Durre will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Ord Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Scotia Fire and Rescue Department and EMT’s. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Amelia Rose Bruha was born February 23, 1935 in Valley County to William and Rose (Skala) Penas. She was raised in Valley County and had attended rural Valley County Schools.
Amelia moved to Oregon with her family for a brief time before moving back to Valley County.
She had worked at the Dime Store in Ord and other jobs before she married Frank Bruha October 1, 1953. The couple farmed west of Ord before moving to Madison, Nebraska for Franks work with the telephone company. Eventually the couple ended up in Scotia, NE where they both retired. Frank passed away May 25, 2015. Amelia continued to make her home in Scotia.
Amelia enjoyed her family, cooking, fishing, gardening, canning, reading, playing cards, her pets and birds.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Nancy Bruha of Scotia; three daughters and two son-in-law’s, Margaret and Don Moudry of Ord, Janice and Duane Miller of Windsor, Colorado and Carol Mostek of St. Paul: seven grandchildren, Jason (Bri) Moudry, Ryan (Ashlee) Moudry, Chad Miller, Kyle (Jodie) Miller, Carmen and Mason Mostek, and Shelley Bruha; seven great-grandchildren, Allie, Grady and Chance Moudry, Shannon, Chevelle and Cade Miller and Amelia and Wyatt Miller; one sister Evelyn P. Bruha of Grand Island.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents;, Will and Rose Penas; her husband Frank; a Grandson Justin Miller and a sister Lillian Kvetensky.
