Mary Ann Struckman, 87, of Burwell passed away Wednesday October 3, 2018, at the Valley County Health System Hospital at Ord.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Ord First United Methodist Church with Pastor Stefanie Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Ord Memorial Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to the Ord United Methodist Women. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Ann was born August 17, 1931 at Omaha to Frank and Lena (Parker) Jablonski. They moved to the family farm by Elyria around 1934. In the early years the family moved around and ended up in Omaha where Mary Ann attended high school at South High where she was named Outstanding Senior Girl of her class of 1949.
After graduating from high school she attended college at Doane University and graduated with her teaching degree. She then moved back to Ord and began her teaching career at Ord Public Schools. During this time she met the love of her life, Rollin Struckman, while roller skating at the Legion in Burwell. They were married on August 22, 1953, to this union two sons were born, Brad in 1954 and Craig in 1958.
Mary Ann enjoyed spending her time on the family farm and supporting her sons in their many activities as they were growing up. She was a member of many clubs and groups with the surrounding neighbors. She was a long time member of the Brush Busters club in Burwell. She also enjoyed photography and used her skills to take many memories of her family. Mary Ann and Rollin were also long time members of the Dry Cedar Club and enjoyed monthly outings with all of their neighbors. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group at the United Methodist Church in Ord.
Survivors include a son, Craig Struckman of Ord; three grandchildren, Amanda of Omaha, and Abby and Annie of Ord; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Struckman of Sheridan, WY; a sister, Phyllis Romans of Yutan, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rollin; a son, Brad; and a granddaughter, Kailey Ann Struckman.
