Alice Rose was born December 16, 1943, on the family farm east of Burwell, Nebraska to William J. “Bill” and Freda L. (Connor) Flock. She was raised on the family farm and attended Rosevale District #7 Country School. Rose lived with Speck and Clara Ludington at Ord while she attended high school and graduated from Ord High School in 1962.

On October 30, 1966, Rose was united in marriage to Herman Pokorny at the Ord First United Methodist Church. The couple made their first home west of Ord on the Sargent Hwy for ten years. In 1975, they settled in their home outside of Scotia.
Rose spent her free time crocheting, making afgans, dresses and many other gifts for graduations and weddings. She enjoyed traveling, canning, Husker Football and watching her family’s many activities. She was a good cook and will be remembered for her homemade whipped cream, wacky chocolate cake, pies and filled donuts.
